January, there has been an increase in value, at the

prices of the 9th February of over £10,000. The

security of the Chartered Bank of India Australia &

China has changed by the release of Karks 500,000

Prussian 3 Consols State Loan Bearer Debentures of the

nominal value of £25,000 in exchange for £25,000

(nominal value) of 4 Bombay Improvements Trust

Sterling Debentures 1910.

4. I enclose copies of letters we have

received from the Banks reporting that the amounts

of notes in circulation in the Straits Settlements

on the 31st December 1913, were as follows:-
